Resistance and ductility of FRP composite hybrid joints

An experimental investigation of the load-bearing behavior and ductility FRP hybrid double-lap joints composed both adhesively-bonded bolted connection parts was conducted. Amongst other things, effects adherends’ fiber architecture (uni- or multidirectional), adhesive type (stiff flexible), displacement rate were examined. The resistances with flexible corresponded to full summation bonded parts. ultimate failure loads these furthermore significantly improved by increasing rate, while deformation capacity did not decrease. multidirectional adherends exhibited high joint efficiencies excellent thus may increase overall safety redundant engineering structures brittle members. These also fulfill fail-safe conditions as required in European standards.
